HomeStreet Bank's Home Ownership Seminars

Homeownership is one of the most rewarding, yet entirely bewildering aspects of the American Dream.  One of the scariest things people face when they decide to buy a home is where to start.   What do I need to apply?  Do I have to save 20% before I can buy a home?  What does escrow mean?  What if the rates go down?  Should I refinance?  What if something comes up-how can I get money out of my house?

If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions, then check out HomeStreet Bank’s upcoming Homeownership 101 informational seminars, even if you’re not ready to buy yet! These seminars are offered quarterly and can help everyone from first-time homebuyers to seasoned homeowners.

The Affinity Lending Center is dedicated to providing free homeownership education to all Portland Impact employees and volunteers as part of your Hometown Home Loan Program benefits.  These short informational seminars are a way for you to get answers to your questions in a no-pressure environment.

For a complete schedule of seminars please visit www.homestreet.com/101.  Portland Impact employees and volunteers are eligible to save $1000’s on their closing costs when they finance their home loan through HomeStreet Bank’s Affinity Lending Center.  Call toll-free 888-408-0066 or visit www.homestreet.com/PortlandImpact to learn more about down payment assistance, free homebuyer education or to register for an upcoming seminar.

Mitch Lambley: HomeStreet Bank Employee, Portland Impact Volunteer

Mitch Lambley was first introduced to Portland Impact as a Friendly Visitor for an elderly man in the Sellwood area.  For approximately 9 months he visited his new friend once a week and spent 2-3 hours with him.  Whether helping him replant a Poinsettia, driving him to medical appointments, or changing a smoke detector battery, Mitch lent a hand where ever he could, or just sat and visited.

As an employee of HomeStreet Bank and a Reverse Mortgage Specialist, he enjoys educating seniors about the many benefits of this program.  “It is a loan that can dramatically change peoples’ lives for the better, when they need assistance most.  Senior homeowners 62 or older with equity in their home can borrow against that equity and never have to make a payment, as long as they live in their house.”  Often times, this is the only way someone can increase their monthly income, and with no payment attached.

Mitch offers free reverse mortgage seminars every other month at Portland Impact’s Senior Center, and he can be contacted directly for a one-on-one consultation.  His number is 503-805-3280.

Mitch is from South Dakota originally, came to Oregon in 1985 to attend the University of Oregon where he graduated, and has lived in Portland since 1989.  He currently lives in the South Tabor neighborhood with his wife and daughter.  He is also proud to have been the auctioneer for Portland Impact’s summer garden party event in June for the last couple of years.
