Portland Impact Social Support Services for Educational Success Program

Serving at-risk adolescents age 12-17 to assist them with remaining in school or supporting youth with returning to school.

The SSSES program is available at the following schools:

 The program offers 3 primary key services:

¨     Case Management- assessing strengths and challenges, developing a plan of action and connecting students and their families to community resources.

Connections to community resources can include the following:

Ø      Emergency Housing

Ø      Energy Assistance

Ø      Legal Assistance

Ø      Mental Health treatment and Counseling

Ø      Public assistance and benefits

Ø      Health Services

¨     Advocacy for students aimed at helping them achieve educational success.

Examples of this advocacy service can include:

Ø      Enrollment in Pubic schools and assisting with school schedule

Ø      High School Credit Retrieval

Ø      Assisting students with navigating educational system

Ø      Bridging communication between schools and families

Ø      Information on GED or Alternative education programs

¨     Groups that provide social skill building and support school retention efforts.

Examples of these groups include:

Ø      Gender-specific boys and girls empowerment groups

Ø      Middle to High School transition groups

Ø      Multi-cultural and Diversity Development Groups

Ø      Group supporting children of incarcerated parent
